					 Why is domestic helper insurance mandatory and important? 
							
			
			
		
						
				Domestic helper insurance ensures comprehensive coverage during her employment. It is compulsory for employers of domestic helpers to purchase a Personal Accident insurance for them before they can be employed. The minimum sum insured is S$60,000. Any compensation payable must be made to them or their beneficiaries.
					 When should I get the domestic helper insurance plan? 
							
			
			
		
						
				It might take up to three business days to successfully forward the security bond detail to the Ministry of Manpower. Hence, it is recommended to get the domestic helper insurance plan at least three business days before your domestic helper arrives in Singapore. Here are the policy start dates to consider for new, renewal and transferred maids:
- New maids : The policy starts on the day that your maid arrives in Singapore.
 - Maids renewing their work permits : The policy starts one day after their present work permit expires.
 - Transferred maids : The policy starts on or before the date you file for a Ministry of Manpower transfer.
