Instrumental in establishing and maintaining the control and governance framework over all reporting cycles in adherence to both regulatory and group requirements.
Responsible for insightful P&L and B/S analysis and forecast to support issues resolution and business decision making.
Leads preparation and implementation of RBC2, IFRS 9 and IFRS 17.
Being the focal point within the Finance Function for all statutory, regulatory, regional office and tax reporting, the role holder is responsible for maintaining good working relationships with regulators, auditors, Group finance, and tax authority in achieving the objectives. He/She will also ensure a consistent communication flow with key stakeholders in managing deliverables and expectations.
Responsible for managing all aspects of the tax affairs to ensure timely and accurate submission and tax queries are addressed timely and satisfactorily.
Leads all the audit processes including audit efficiency and audit budget. He/She is also tasked to ensure there is no significant management letter point with respect to the finance functions.
Responsible for maintaining a well-structured and effective Chart of Accounts to suit both reporting and business needs.
Documents all processes and controls within the reporting function and actively looks to improve the workflow, processes and solutions with a view of continuously transforming the reporting processes to achieve accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness, whilst supporting the increased complexity of business.
Keeps abreast of developments in Financial Reporting Standards (FRSs), tax rules, statutory and regulatory requirements to ensure timely compliance. He/she contributes to the production of papers to help keep key decision makers informed of issues (resulting from developments in the financial reporting, tax or regulatory regime) that may become important.
Trains and develops the team to establish a strong foundation to ensure continuous compliance with developments in regulatory, statutory, technical accounting, reporting and tax requirements.
Leads and/or participates in projects as and when assigned to meet the project objectives.
Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or Business
Qualified accountant with more than 10 years working in a senior finance capacity, preferable from life insurance or financial services industry with an emphasis on IFRSs, taxation, regulatory & statutory reporting, or audit experience with life insurance focus from the Big 4 accounting firms
In-depth knowledge of Financial Reporting Standards (FRSs), the Risk-based Capital (RBC) framework for insurance and insurance regulations in Singapore
Good working knowledge of corporate tax and GST in Singapore
Agile with a change mind-set and an eye for detail
Good understanding of insurance products and the finance dynamics
Experience in managing, guiding and developing a team with good organization and planning skills
Ability to work in a dynamically changing, deadline-oriented environment
Ability to make timely decisions to redefine finance processes and/or resolve conflicts as the circumstances require
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both English and Mandarin in order to liaise with the English and Chinese Speaking Associates
